Myrtos beach in Crete
Myrtos Beach is a small Cretan gem, situated in front of the coastal village of Myrtos in Lassithi, Crete. It is 51 kilometres away from Agios Nikolaos and almost 15km away from Ierapetra.
The beach is a fine pebble beach, featuring ash grey sand and minimum shade. Its crystal clear waters make it one of your best choices in the area. An additional advantage of Myrtos Beach is that it is protected from the strong meltemia – the winds that blow in July and August in the Aegean – offering the tourists the chance to relax and enjoy their sun bathe or swimming.
The beach features sun beds and parasols as well as numerous amenities for tourists and visitors. There are several facilities on site, especially for the most active ones; a sailing outlet with catamarans, dinghies are at the visitors’ disposal, who can also take short sailing courses around the Myrtos Bay.
Eastwards from the beach runs the waterfront featuring taverns that cater the famous Greek and Cretan cuisine as well as bars that offer magnificent view to the beach.
The small village of Myrtos is situated just a few metres away from the beach; within the narrow streets, you can walk under the shadow of trees and among the colorful flowers that ornament the yards of the houses.

Various accommodation options and dining outlets can also be found in the village, which is both lively and quiet at the same time. Myrtos has evolved to a loved tourist destination, especially for independent tourists from Europe.
